The garden is screened from the sidewalk by a low beech hedge. The existing beautiful trees have been preserved. Residents on the ground floor each have their own small garden. Yew hedges screen the gardens and add structure to the space.

Two large flower borders are situated at the transition between the public area and the garden, allowing residents on the second floor to also enjoy a view of the sea of flowers. The borders feature clusters of perennials, ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, and roses.

Brakkestein in Nijmegen was developed according to the Carefree Green concept.
