Park de Gagel
Limited maintenance
The planting at the park entrance was very outdated and in need of renewal. It consisted largely of tall, upright shrubs, causing the park to face the street. By opening up the planting and edging the wide steps on either side with tiered hedges, a spacious entrance to the park is created. The park's frontage is now facing the street. By using landscaping that quickly covers the ground and ensuring good groundwork, maintenance is kept to a minimum.
Combination of plant species
After the entrance to Park de Gagel on Carnegiedreef, the entrance to the petting zoo was also renovated. Two long borders line the path to the entrance and prevent cars from parking on the grass. A balanced combination of species ensures that the planting looks beautiful year-round.
Two years after the entrances were constructed, the herb garden was also renovated. Large groups of perennials with herbs and ornamental grasses give the area a unique character. Hedges provide structure in the winter and shelter several seating areas.
Park de Gagel in Utrecht was developed according to the Zorgeloos Groen concept.
