Park de Dennen Enschede

Park de Dennen Enschede

Hagen in the lead role

Park de Dennen is a complex of four apartment buildings near the well-known van Volkspark in Enschede. Between the four towers are three semi-sunken parking garages. On top of the garages are three roof gardens. These gardens are primarily viewing gardens from the homes, but they are also accessible. They have been given a strong graphic pattern of tiles, gravel and large and small planters.

The walls of the parking garages have ugly ventilation grilles. Hedges have been planted in front of them, which do not hinder the ventilation. The hedges camouflage the grilles in the retaining walls. They also ensure that the towers are dressed green from the ground level and remain separate from each other. Sitting on the roof garden, the hedges function as a parapet. Water features with moving water have been installed on the roof gardens. Buro Mien Ruys was involved at an early stage. This allowed recesses to be included in the roof for the reservoirs for the water features.
