Early 2023, Buro Mien Ruys created a new planting plan for the Zaandam Stationsplein for the municipality of Zaandam. This is a Zorgeloos Groen project in collaboration with De Enk Groen & Golf (construction and maintenance) and Boot & Dart Boomkwekerijen, which supplied the robust and healthy planting. The existing design with walking paths and seating edges through the greenery formed the contours for the new planting plan, which also had to include the existing trees and shrubs. The new planting design has created a year-round sea of flowers, rich in colour and texture. By working with large groups of one type each, the various perennials and ornamental shrubs used are strongly expressed and the whole remains clear. The poppies have emerged spontaneously and are a welcome surprise. They work as weaving plants and provide even more unity within the planting plan. The result in June is already very full and colourful. In a month the planting plan will reach a climax when the large groups of Veronicastum, Agastache, Aster and Rudbeckia also start to flower.
