Dalfsen Town Hall

The entrance area

The entrance area of the town hall in Dalfsen. The most significant issue was that it did not meet the access requirements. Furthermore, the chosen paving material and the construction method proved problematic. The tiles were breaking and peeling off the concrete surface. A common objection to the construction was that it was a cold, uninviting, and therefore uninviting, stone surface. The new design was developed through an intensive participatory process with local residents and interest groups. The height difference between the street and the entrance has been bridged with a ramp that is as gentle as possible, spread across the entire site. A walking path has been integrated into the pattern of paving stones in contrasting colors. Two disabled parking spaces are located near the entrance. There is a spacious area for bicycle parking, also close to the entrance. The most striking change is the space for greenery. In addition to trimmed hedges, large planting beds have been created with colorful plants throughout the year. The color palette of yellow, orange, red, and warm bronze tones complements the dark brown facade bricks. The local press described the result as: "From a stone desert to a sea of flowers."
