Route and Public Garden Bergeijk

A recreational route and flower garden
The municipality of Bergeijk commissioned Buro Mien Ruys to develop a tourist route with the motto 'from Ploeg to Kerk'. The route starts at the Teutenhuis from 1722, where the VVV is located. Here we designed a sculpture and flower garden with multi-coloured flower borders in different colour palettes and space for art by local artists. In a prominent place in the park is a glass pavilion by Gabriel Lester in collaboration with Van den Hout & Kolen architects, as a modern orangery and reception area. The soft LED light from the pavilion illuminates the park at night.
Architect Gerrit Rietveld and landscape architect Mien Ruys have left a monument with the factory De Ploeg and the accompanying factory park in this then very progressive Brabant village. They created a new idea of a factory and of factory work, with light, air and space and contact with nature. Spread throughout the village are various smaller projects by both designers, such as the square by the clock and the bus stop.
