Shopping center 't Harde

Site design
The site of the newly built shopping centre in 't Harde had already been largely realised when the objections and negative reactions from shopkeepers and local residents started. Too bare, too uninviting, too uninviting to stay longer than strictly necessary. In combination with the last construction phase, a greening plan was made for the outdoor area. In consultation with residents and shopkeepers, it was explored which logistical and functional requirements had to be taken into account in the plan, such as loading and unloading for some shops and the arrangement of market stalls. The existing paving material has been retained and reused in the plan. A new material has been added with which a pattern has been created in the paving that makes the street surface appear less massive. Raised flower beds and seating edges provide colour and greenery and make the square an inviting place to stay. A lunchroom with a large terrace will be strategically placed on the square. A great wish of local residents was a water feature with moving water. This has been elaborated in the form of 'deceivers' near the terrace. When the fountains are off, this part of the paved surface can also be used and driven over.
