Prombeez

Prombeez focuses on increasing biodiversity and promoting education about it. Prombeez offers the option of renting a beehive. This hive can be placed at a location to be determined, such as area development sites, business premises, or golf courses. The hive is maintained by certified beekeepers who visit periodically. The beekeepers are always willing to provide explanations and share knowledge.

Furthermore, the surrounding area is involved as much as possible in the world of the honeybee. For example, the creation of a flower meadow and the installation of an information board are part of the concept. The harvested honey also benefits local residents and company employees. The distribution of the honey can be combined with an annual knowledge sharing event. During this event, knowledge is shared about honeybees, what you can do to promote biodiversity in your own environment, and the event concludes with a honey tasting.

What do you get?

Prombeez distinguishes itself by bringing biodiversity and sustainability to life through a comprehensive concept. This concept offers an experience for you and your surroundings.

We'll supply a beehive with a roof garden. We'll also decorate a 50m² area with a floral mix and provide an information board where locals can learn about the importance of honeybees for their community and scan a QR code. This code provides information about the importance of honeybees and biodiversity in the Netherlands.

Prombeez in your area

Area development – Green is increasingly taking precedence over gray in new construction projects. However, before construction begins, the land often lies fallow for years. In the meantime, this land can be optimally utilized by temporarily landscaping it with greenery and a beehive. This increases biodiversity, allowing everyone to enjoy the temporary natural environment. It's also a great way to involve stakeholders in the project. We collaborate with our ecologists and landscaping staff on the design of temporary greenery and can even anticipate the site's future.

Business Locations – Bees make a positive contribution to business locations. Employees learn more about the wonderful world of honeybees and also increase biodiversity around your business location.

Golf courses – Golf courses are abundant with greenery, but biodiversity can be further enhanced by installing a beehive. Besides the ecological benefits, this also enhances the golf course experience for members.

What does Prombeez deliver in your area?

Honeybees contribute directly to the pollination of nearby crops. Sowing a flower-rich mixture will also make the area attractive to other insects.

Sustainability is a frequent topic of conversation these days. More and more companies are realizing the importance of caring for the environment. By installing a beehive, you can earn points for the BREEAM score. This certificate offers tools for making real estate more sustainable. Under the umbrella of Integrated Pest Management, golf courses are encouraged to use pesticides responsibly. Installing a beehive directly contributes to this. Moreover, in both cases, a beehive on site can serve as a showcase for the importance of a sustainable and healthy living environment.

Quite a few golf courses are already bee-friendly (or are in the process of becoming so). They feature insect hotels, mantle and fringe vegetation along forest edges, flower- and herb-rich meadows, nature-friendly banks, and bare sandy areas. It all contributes to increased biodiversity. And the golf course looks more natural and perhaps even blends in better with the landscape. Source: www.golf.nl

The Beez from Prombeez

The Buckfast bee lives in the hives. The Buckfast bee is a crossbreed of several subspecies of the European honeybee. These bees are known for their extreme gentleness. Honeybees (Apis mellifera) play a crucial role in our ecosystem. Bees provide all sorts of products to humans, including not only honey, beeswax, and other byproducts, but also medicinal uses. Furthermore, and more importantly, the honeybee is responsible for pollinating many crops.

By renting a beehive, you can also contribute to this. We believe it's important that honeybees are evenly distributed throughout the Netherlands. Therefore, we always visit your location to determine the best location without disrupting the immediate surroundings.

The Prommenzen behind the Prombeez

Prombeez is an initiative of Esli van Westerop, Naomi Bruijooge, and Jeffrey Zwaneveld. On behalf of Prommenz, they represent the interests of bees and biodiversity.

Esli explains: “It was always a big dream to become a beekeeper. When I saw the opportunity to take this course with my fellow Prombeez, I jumped at it. I find the way bees live so incredibly special, and it fascinates me immensely. It's a summer of many firsts, and we're learning something new every week.”

Naomi was also immediately enthusiastic when the idea for the Prombeez arose: “I've always been interested in bee behavior. Just think, when a bee stings, it dies. Why are bees willing to give their lives to protect the colony? I've also long been aware of the important role bees play in our ecosystem and the threats they face.”

Jeffrey continues: “From a young age, I've been interested in everything that grows and blooms. As I learn more and more about the importance of bees and other insects in our natural environment, it's becoming increasingly clear to me that we need to cherish them. It makes me much more aware of everything that's happening in the environment and its impact. I'm proud that together, on behalf of Prommenz and Smit Groenadvies, we can represent the importance of sustainability and biodiversity!”

Core values: Special and connecting.

Mission: A healthy living environment with conservation of biodiversity in the Netherlands.

Vision: As certified beekeepers, we want to contribute to biodiversity in the Netherlands through education about honeybees and the rental of beehives.
