Winkler Prins Veendam Sports Park
Last week our colleague was Ruud Boon present at the Symposium 'Head, Heart and Hands, nice places for users' in The Element in Amersfoort.

Connecting learning and sports park
An inspiring symposium where various speakers and architects shared their vision of school buildings and debated the question: what makes a place sustainable, valuable and pleasant? With presentations on the sustainable reuse of materials, loving renovation, the importance of greenery and of course a tour of the school building. A beautiful program with the launch of the new book 'Head, Heart and Hands; nice places' as a highlight. And we are in it!
This beautiful inspiration book also includes the project Winkler Prince Veendam included. This Learning and Sports Park combines education, sports and nature and is a project of 19 the studio architects from Zwolle. The outdoor space was designed by Buro Mien Ruys!
Winkler Prins is a green campus with a fresh and light learning environment and attention to nature, where not only the buildings but also the inside and outside are connected to each other. Buro Mien Ruys designed a hill with walking lines and sitting edges at different heights, which provides students with a pleasant place during their break. The design also offers plenty of space for nature, including built-in nesting places for birds in the facades and a wide ditch with natural banks. It is precisely this green outdoor space that makes for a pleasant place.
From regional vocational education to gymnasium, not only the building but also the location and surroundings play a crucial role. A healthy, natural and beautiful learning environment contributes to good development.
Proud of the result! Thanks for the trust and the pleasant cooperation 19 the studio! With thanks to School domain and Sibo Arbeek for the beautiful publication.
