Successful staff event and customer event in the Mien Ruys Gardens in Dedemsvaart
What inspiring days! On 6 and 7 June, the Gardens of Mien Ruys were 'ours' for a while and formed the backdrop for our staff meeting and customer event. We could literally and figuratively taste the atmosphere of the place where it all began 100 years ago with the experiments of Mien Ruys.
On June 6, we left Schagen and Purmerend with two buses with our entire staff to the Gardens of Mien Ruys in Dedemsvaart. We were given a tour of the Gardens by an enthusiastic guide and learned everything about the origins of the gardens, the experiments and the passion with which Mien Ruys set them up a century ago. She devoted her entire life to a sleek design and good planting. Work that our colleagues from Buro Mien Ruys are also involved in every day and that we could admire in the newest part of the Gardens. After 100 years, the experiments are still going on there and the gardens of our own colleagues Evy Blom, Ilona Dekker and Ward Maaswinkel are located there. An ideal opportunity to share knowledge, our colleagues were able to tell us in great detail about their design and the criteria that played an important role within the theme of sustainability. Three completely different designs but all three with a beautiful result!
These 'Sustainable city gardens' were designed in the context of the 100th anniversary of Tuinen Mien Ruys. The official opening of these gardens will take place on 14 June 2024.
This section also contains the garden modules of Anet Scholma, who was present to tell more about this new planting concept. A great moment to explain her very last project and to be the center of attention among all her colleagues once again. Anet was thanked with applause for all her efforts and cooperation for our Buro.
We ended the afternoon with a nice drink and a culinary walking dinner. The dishes were also a feast for the eyes, completely in the style of the Gardens decorated with flowers.
Customer event
On Friday 7 June, we treated clients and former relations of Anet Scholma to a tour of the Gardens. Anet, who learned the tricks of the design trade from Mien Ruys, worked with her and took over her Buro, was able to supplement the guide with personal anecdotes and stories. A special tour! Maaike van Santen provided an explanation of the gardens and designs of Buro Mien Ruys. Enough material for conversation and a reason to walk through the gardens together, gain inspiration and share experiences.
In the exhibition space of the Gardens we presented the latest projects and designs of Buro Mien Ruys and the afternoon was concluded with a farewell lunch for Anet Scholma. This day was also unforgettable.
In short, two very inspiring, positive and successful days in Dedemsvaart.
