Inspiration podcast
Mien Ruys (1904-1999) is one of the most important garden architects of the twentieth century. She experimented with design, planting and materials and had a progressive view. Terms such as sustainable, climate-adaptive or carefree green did not yet exist, but nature and healthy and happy users of the outdoor space were always central. In short, an icon in the field of modern garden architecture.
This year, the Gardens of Mien Ruys are celebrating their 100th anniversary and in the context of this anniversary, a podcast about the life and work of Mien Ruys is being released. The series discusses themes that are still relevant today. Discover what we can learn from the past and apply in the future! The first episode features Anet Scholma, landscape architect and former owner of Buro Mien Ruys. She was able to learn the tricks of the design trade from Mien Ruys, collaborate with her, continue her design agency and transfer it to Prommenz in 2022. She has transferred her vision and working method – and thus the heritage of Mien Ruys – with great care and dedication to our team of ambitious designers. We are proud of that!
Listen to a special conversation from the first test garden of Mien Ruys in Dedemsvaart. The podcast is made possible by the Tuinen Mien Ruys foundation (Dedemsvaart). Buro Mien Ruys has been part of Prommenz since 2023, a nice addition to the collaboration with Smit Groenadvies. The power of this cross-pollination is proven in many joint projects, from progressive landscape designs for parks and recreation areas to joint (indoor/roof) gardens of housing associations and municipalities.
